Favorite Scriptures

"You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. There cannot be Jew or Greek, slave or freemen, Male or female. You are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

This passage from Galatians is one of my favorites. It speaks of our equality before God in Christ in a positive way. It has been left to our time to discover the importance of both men and women, and persons of all ethnic and social groups. For centuries "higher" and "lower" were the norms by which people were distinguished. Kings and serfs, rich and poor, male and female, all were seen in sharp contrast. This passage today was overlooked as was the little letter to Philemon. Individual talents and uniqueness have not been lost in a more equalitarian society. It is in fact, our own individuality, our own uniqueness which is valued by the Lord and as our contribution to the world. Today, read this verse as spoken to you and know that in Christ you are as important and valued as any in all of God's creation. Amen.
