"I am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation shall be able to separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:28,29

In Romans 8:28,29 St. Paul climaxes his great statement of faith in the work God had accomplished in Jesus Christ: "I am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation shall be able to separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Here is the strongest affirmation of God's good news we have anywhere. It is the total assurance of the triumph of God's redeeming Love. It is the source of calm for all our anxious striving and the source of out greatest power and strength. It is not what we have or can or must do that gives this assurance. It is the solid conviction on the part of St. Paul that God has done all that is required to "shed his love abroad in our hearts." Thus we live as Christians in the atmosphere of steadfast love. Which, in turn, makes it possible for us to express our gratitude and declare our praise. Amen.
