Among the most effective and wholesome Christians I have known those who stand out are like the petite senior citizen who said, " I have been in the Church all my life. My parents before me faithfully worshipped God Sunday after Sunday. I slept as a small child on my mother's lap in the the evening service. I was read the stories of the Bible at bedtime. I can't remember when I didn't love Jesus. When the doors of the church were opened, we were there. I have lived in several places during my life. Our children grew up in the Church School. Pot Luck dinners were family dinners. In fact, that's exactly what the Church was to me - Family!" This lady was nurtured in the faith all her life. To ask who she is is to answer, "Christian."
We can train people to do a lot of things. We can give them all kinds of information. There are many things that can be learned how to do. But nothing is so valuable to the soul as to be nurtured - nurtured, if you will, all the days of one's life. This is the most valuable asset a life can have: to know the Lord in as familiar a surrounding as that atmosphere we call "home". Amen.
