Spiritual Movement

1. Moving beyond existence to purpose.

Do you ever ask the question, "Why?" Most of us do. We want to know why things happen the way they do. We wonder why some people live beyond their years in a very limited way, while others die in what seems to be the prime of life.

One man wondered why he ended up in a place where people cared about him, and brought him out of a drunken condition into a respectable life again. We wonder why bad things happen to good people.

Interestingly, we do not always get that question answered to our satisfaction. But one thing is clear: As Christians, we are not content just to live our "3 score and 10" and then die without a purpose. We want to know what God wants us to do without lives. Through prayer and reflection, through searching our souls, and seeking direction, we look for the purpose God has for our lives. We may not do great things, but we want to do good things and right things. We want our lives to count, to be worthwhile. And to that end we live - and in exploring God's "Why", we find life. Amen.
